39a: 1...Qh6+ 2.Kg1 Qh2+ 3.Kf1 Rae8 and white will (at best) lose a queen for a rook:

4.Qxe8 Qh1+ 5.Ke2 Rxe8+
4.Nf3 Qh1+ 5.Ke2 Rxe4+
4.Qxh7+ Kxh7
4.Qh4 Qxe4
all other Q moves result in 5...Qh1#

Alternate solution for 39b:
1.Qh3+ Kxf4 2.Rf1+ (2...Rf2 3.Rxf2+ changes nothing)

2...Kg5 3.Rxf5+ Kg6 4.Qh5+ Kg7 5.Rf7+ Kg8 6.Qxh7#
2...Ke4 3.Qxf5+

3...Kxd4 4.Rf4+ Ke3 5.Qe4 Kd2 6.Rf2+ Kd1 (Kc1 7.Qxc2# or Qe1#) 7.Qxc2+ Ke1 8.Qe2#
3...Ke3

4.Rf3+ Kxd4 5.Rd3+ Kc4 5.Qd5#
4...Kd2 5.Qd3+ Ke1 (Kc1 6.Rf1#) 6.Rf1#
4...Ke2 5.Qd3+ Ke1 6.Rf1#

You've got that right mike. :D

Let's see if you can find white's best move if the black queen is moved to d7

39c White to play.
